No worries, it's a link to my family by marriage via my dad's half sister.

I just haven't seem the surname come up before

Does this refer to the Swalwell link?

I may be throwing a spanner in the works here, but is it possible that Quarry House is somewhere other than St John Lee? There are Postles and Glendinnings buried in Blackhill graveyard and there is one mention in the Burial Records of Quarry House, Blackhill - see page 2 of the attached Glendinning records. Also attached is a PDF of the few headstones I have on file which may, possibly, be relevant to your researches.
I hope I'm not just confusing the issue.

Pat,

No, you're not confusing the issue at all, in fact it's more food for thought.  I did a bit of searching on Google yesterday for Quarry house in Acomb and looked at both St John Lee and Bywell St Peter - the address seems to appear more than once  in many areas in and around both places.  There are definitley links with Shotley Bridge as my Michael Glendinning, although stating he was born Peepy, Northumberland on all his census entries, appears to have lived in Medomsley/Shotley, from what year I don't know.  I know he was there in 1837 as he married Ann Postle in the Chapel of Medomsley in 1837 and they were resident in Shotley Bridge at the time of the marriage.  Ann was also born Shotley, so there are definitely links with then info you sent.  Some of the Postle inscriptions I already have as another kind person on here transcribed them and gave me the details.

Thanks for the info - every bit helps

Nadine
