Samuel Gill May 1893 Lifton, Devon
« on: Tuesday 09 September 08 12:18 BST (UK) »
Hi

Could someone have a look & see if they can trace this person. I have Ancestry, but not the international version which lists a Samuel Gill May as a Canadian soldier in WW1

My Samuel was born in Lifton Devon in 1893. He is meant to have married a lady called Elsie & had at least 5 children. Betty, Antony, Gerald, Christine & Linda. I can find no record of him here & came across the above record whilst looking at  'Family Tree Maker'.

Regards Suzanne

You can view his WW1 Attestation papers for free at Library and Archives Canada.  From there you can order his full military file.  It looks like he has signed up in Calgary, Alberta.

Hi Karen

I have his enlistment docs now Thanks. I am just curious as to when & where he married as he was single when he enlisted in 1916.

Regards Suzanne

Here's a link to the Alberta Resources page.  I don't think Alberta has BDM's on line though  :-\
