1911 Census Online - Timetable
« on: Thursday 11 September 08 16:09 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I expect that most people here are aware of the project by the Dublin authorites to digitise the 1911 and 1901 census returns & make them available on-line free of charge, and of the recent announcement that Kerry, Antrim and Down for 1911 will be ready in October 2008.

But, does anyone here know anything more precise than "October"?    Beginning, middle or end?

TIA

hi,
just had a look at the national archive site and it still says october with more precise timelines when available. the rest of the counties will be online between then and mid 2009 which i hadn't noticed before. i hope they keep to their schedule, a lot of people are patiently waiting. NOT! :)

The last I heard Counties Antrim, Down and Kerry scheduled to come online are delayed (until November?).
Here's the link to 1911 Census on National Archives:
www.census.nationalarchives.ie

See under 'Future Plans' for the list of counties. The details at the top keep changing- yesterday's message was that they were starting with Co. Dublin in 2007 but this is this morning's message:
"The records for 1911 are being digitised first, then those for 1901. Kerry, Antrim and Down will be available online in October 2008. Publication of the other counties will follow, in the order listed below, between then and mid-2009. More precise timescales will be posted when available."

Think that like Co. Dublin it there will be delays nd it's a matter of waiting.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Website text has been altered this morning to read:

"The 1911 Census records for Antrim, Down and Kerry will now be placed online in December, rather than October, as previously hoped. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused, and thank you for your patience."

Oh well.
