Capel Curig - Evans/Griffith
« on: Friday 12 September 08 20:33 BST (UK) »
Hello.  I am researching the names of Evans and Griffith in the Capel Curig area.  Evan Griffith married Margaret Thomas in abt. 1785 in, I'm assuming, the Capel Curig area.  Their children were all born in Capel Curig with the last name of Evans.  Their daughter Catharine Evans was christened in Capel Curig on October 24, 1802.   She then married Morris Williams of Trefriw on May 12, 1826 in Llanrhychwyn.  They immigrated to PA in the 1840's.

My questions are many, but I guess I would like to know if there are any resources I could use for more information on these families.  Plus, if Evan and his wife were buried at St. Jullita, why would thier daughter marry at the old church in Llanrhychwn?  Are these churches of the same denomination?

I believe I found Evan Griffith on the BMD....what type of info can be gotten from a certificate from 1850?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)
Thanks!
