Audley Park Road in Bath
« on: Saturday 13 September 08 21:12 BST (UK) »
Hi Can any body help,

I am researching the 'Audley' surname and have made my researches to date available to everyone through my website www.audleyfamilyhistory.com

I have noticed that in the Lower Weston area of Bath are four streets with Audley in the name as follows:
Audley Avenue
Audley Close
Audley Grove
Audley Park Road

Does anyone out there know the relevance of the name Audley to Bath?
Would anybody be prepared to e-mail me some digital photographs of the above roads so I could display them on my website with an appropriate credit to the photographer.
Many Thanks
Regards
Brian Audley

Hi Brian

Sorry, can't help with the Audley road names but goodness me, your website is a wonderful work, I'm so impressed!!!  I noticed one name, the Rev John Audley, why does that ring a bell?

Kind regards
Gaie

Hi Gaie,
Many thanks for your comment about my website glad you like it.
The website name was bought for me as a Fathers Day Present from my son (about 4 months early!!) So I had to take up the challenge.

I must admit there is another unrelated Audley helping me and I have used some web designers based in India to help me with the basic layout of the web pages

It is suprising where family history can take you!!!

Hi Brian

Try the archives at the Bath Record Office. Their website is www.batharchives.co.uk.

They have a section "History of your House' If they can't help directly they'll be able to point you in the right direction.

I live near Bath - I will try to take some snaps for you, but it may be several weeks before I get the chance.

They're quite long roads though - not sure exactly what you want pictures of - could you be a bit more specific please?  :)

Hi Janet,
Many thanks for your kind offer.
What I think I would like is a general view of the roads with Audley in their name. Unless of course there is something of particular interest in the streets. I am very much in your hands.

I am really looking for pictures to add interest to my website.  Can I ask you look at the 'places called Audley' page on www.audleyfamilyhistory.com and see what I am trying to do.
I would also appreciate your comments as to whether I am attempting something sensible or not.

Perhaps if there is a particularily nice view from one of the streets then that would be great or even  something like an unusual tree or building

I just hope that every street in England with Audley in the name does not look exactly the same. So feel free to attempt something a bit different.
Regards
Brian

Okie doke!

It's not a bit of Bath I've ever been to so I don't quite know what I'll find, but I can certainly do some street sign shots and maybe a view up/down each street.  If I spot anything interesting I'll snap it - after all that's what's great about digital cameras - lots of space for all sorts of random things.

Not sure when I'll be able to go, but I will post in here ASAP.  Glad to help.   :)

Hi Janet,
Thanks for that. It is many years since I have been to Bath It might be possible to see a distant view of the Royal Crescent, the park, the river or even the cemetery!!
