Belfast Newspaper Library - look up please
« on: Sunday 14 September 08 12:19 BST (UK) »
Is there some kind person out there, who could look at some newspaper archives to see if my grand mother's inquest was published in a Belfast Newspaper? Her death certificate says she died on the 9th April 1940 in Belfast and her inquest was held by the Coroner for Belfast on 24th April 1940; she was only 20 when she died. I have written to the Public Records Office, however, they have confirmed that they cannot find the inquest file. I have emailed the Newspaper Library and they tell me that there were 4 newspapers in existence at the time : - Belfast Newsletter, Belfast Telegraph, Irish News and the Northern Whig. My last hope is that there will be something recorded in a newspaper from that time. Unfortunately, I don't live in Northern Ireland otherwise I would make the trip to the library myself.
Is there anyone out there who could advise me further or look up any possible newspaper archives??  :)
