Hmmm

no because scotlandpeople is to much money
and it is to many hits for me to look at

I know it costs money 'cos it cost me to help you.  ::) My understanding of this forum was that its not meant to be a way of getting the information you need without it costing you anything.

I'm sorry if that seems a little sharp or I've taken what you said the wrong way but it annoyed me. :-\

Why dont you register at the Ancestral Scotland website? You will get 10 free SP credits just for accepting an e-magazine? Surely that will help?

Hi Tracey  :)

I felt the same,  as you can see - I used units to look at the death cert.

None of us mind helping and using up units (and do I use units! ) but when the person that you're helping says that and doesn't even thank you for your time, it's not unexpected that we feel as we do.

You have helped and I have helped but is Williams doing his bit?

i help people as well
and i did not mean that it cost money
i dont mind paying money all the time
i mean it comes up with lots of name
to look up sometimes it is 52 pages
i go to edinburgh to new register house or i go to glasgow to park circus
i was just wanting someone to tell me what else i could do to get the stuff i wanted
as i have tried everything i can think of

so thank you all very much for all your help
and sorry for wasting your time

Hi

Lets not get into a "discussion" but Gadget asked if you had checked the census returns and your answer was no that it cost too much on SP....surely you would have checked them when you were at NRH then?

No-one grudges helping...I have had help myself from other people and decided to repay the kindness. Maybe you just have to be a bit more careful in what you say or how it comes across?

William

Brown is a difficult name. I have traced some in Scotland for a cousin. You have to include the Brouns as well, etc. Also Albert - could be Bert (think I found a 14 year old one in Lanarkshire b. Biggar on the 1861 as a lodger and will put up the details after supper ).

Have you read the tips on optimising the Scotlands People searches which is stickied to the top of the Scotland - General board? It might help  :)

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,43916.0.html

And, as we've said, it might be that he's not had his birth registered.

Hi William

Nice to see you in chat . Check your emails. I think this may be his death cert but alas no parents. I'm pretty sure is the one Gadget has already flagged up.

Speak soon
