Marriage between Thomas Wallser and Arabella - mid/late 1820s??
« on: Monday 15 September 08 23:31 BST (UK) »
Hi - a bit vague this

In 1851 census on Ancestry, there is a mistranscribed Thomas and Arabella Wallser - they are listed under WALKER

She is stated as being born in Northumberland (that's it...)...........

After a possible marriage if possible - she is 46 so maybe 1826ish??

thank you

Phil

Phil - Northumberland is a large county with many parishes. You enquiry is a little vague.

Can you give any other detail at all that might help.

Is there a birthplace given on a later census?
Do you have birth dates of children which might give a clue as to the date of the marriage?
What are the birthplaces of any children?
Where were they living in 1841?
Have you searched the IGI?

It would be also useful if you could post the 1851 entry to which you refer.

Jennifer

On IGI under Thomas Walker (doesn't mean it's the same one or that it should be Wallser.....) there is a marriage between him and Isabella Buddle 17 August 1829 at St John Parish, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne............

Maybe?

I thought her name was Arabella, not Isabella?

I just checked this marriage on the Durham Bishops Transcripts. The grooms name is entered as Walker.

Well, my Great Great Grandmother Arabella Wallser had Isabella on her marriage cert coincidentally!!!

If it's Walker, in this case, that's that..........

However, details of the 1851 census are as follows;

Civil parish = St George in the East
County - Middlesex
Sub registration district = St Mary
ED, institutional, or vessel = 14
Household schedule number = 31

thank you
Phil

Ah...I didn't know Arabella and Isabella were interchangeable - I though they were two different names..... ???

Please could you post the actual census entry?

Are there any possible clues on other censuses for this family?
