Quarry Bank records

Hi everyone

I am back on the Homer trail and was wondering if anyone out there has any baptism records for the Quarry Bank/Cradley area, possibly at Park Lane Presbyterian, Cradley which seemed to figure strongly with the family at that time. I am looking for a baptism of William Homer in or around 1798 and any information would be most welcome.

Hi Al, I have the Cradley PR's, there is a Wm baptised 27.12. 1801, name spelt William Holmer son of Absalom and Jane, and again registered 18.4.1802 William Holmer son of Absalom and Jane.  HTH from linell.

Although later census records suggest a birth date of nearer 1798 sometimes the baptisms took place much later for various reasons.

There again hemay have moved from another area of Kingstanding although the family did seem to be established around the Quarry Bank area.

Yes, if you scroll down the page of posts you will see my original one called Homing in on the Homers.
The line I am following was in Quarry Bank until the early 1900s.

I am trying to work back earlier from William in 1841.

Hi Al, found  your old posting, all most interesting, see the family were originally from Saltwells, I was reading up on Saltwells recently in the Black Country Bugle, sounds a lovely old place that was tucked away between Brierely Hill and Quarry Bank.  It doesn't look as though your Wm was baptised at Cradley then?  Sorry but it doesn't look as though my Cradley Records will be of much help.  Do post a message if you find anymore, and I can check back for you.  Best Wishes from linell.

Linell, thanks for your interest, I also saw the article on Salt Wells and looked from above on Multimap and it still looks a fascinating place although I guess it was much different in the early 1800s.
I am now thinking that William was born somewhere else nearby and the one in Brierley Hill does fit the bill looking at the family names that were carried on as William and Elizabeth feature whereas Absolem and Jane do not, but proving it.......
There may be a way as in the 1841 one of William and Nancy's sons, Shadrach, who would be 10 approx. appears to be missing so it is possible he may be with his Grandparents so if I can find him it may provide the answer, long shot but you just never know!
