1871 Census Newcasle Lookup Please

I am searching for James McClay Sandford occupation Solicitor. At one time he was living at Hanover Square. Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.

Hi Anne. The only information I have  was taken from marriage certificate of his son James Sandford In 1867 he married Margaret Archer.They were both aged 23 yrs. They both lived at Hanover Square. James`s father was listed as James McClay Sandford Solicitor.Margaret`s father Robert Archer was Coffee Roaster. Therefore James jnr was born approx 1844. I suppose his father was born about 1800 /1824 ??Just a guess. So perhaps in 1871 he was about 47/71.

From a variety of Trade Directories for Newcastle, covering from about 1838 to middle 1870s, there is no sign of your Sandford, either under the specific heading of Solicitor or in the general alphs-order sections.

It's a bit hit and miss at the moment .

Sorry This is all information I have. There is a possibility he may have been born in Glasgow Lanarkshire. Possibly around 1844.

Thanks Mike, I think I`m flogging a dead horse looking for family in Newcastle. I found a Thomas Sandford Comedian 105 Stockwell St Glasgow.1881 Census
He may be related ( He was born in Scotland)
The father`s name was James McClay Sandford.
That sounds Scottish!! Victoria
