I left the black dots in as well as they seem to regular to be damage. I think they are part of the image.

Can't help with the date but my first thought with the youngest one was that she had possibly been ill and lost her hair, poor litte mite.

I love this pic too, it really tells a story.   I'm sure the last thing they wanted was to be trussed up in stiff Sunday best!  The youngest one looks on the verge of a tandrum too, bless her  LOL!  ;D

It must have been a nightmare for photographers in those days, especially as you weren't supposed to smile, so you couldn't try and make the subjects laugh, even.

I always remember someone taking my son and daughter, aged c 4 and 18 months, to be photographed, and the effort it was to get a good picture of BOTH of them.

She told me, when she got back, that she had got QUITE HOT.

I know what she meant.

1900-10...or there abouts.

I had more trouble with the feet and legs than the black dots.
I think they were 'enhancements' when it didn't come out right on the photo.
Has anyone noticed that the girl in the middle only seems to have one cuff coloured...
Was wondering what to put in and what leave out...

The boy's black dots went, you can almost see a hand there if you burn the dots off.
The little one 'seems' to be holding a bunch of laurel leaves...unlikely... with a flower in the middle...BUT where is the arm and hand...?
I think she is holding herself up on the ledge at the left and sister's waistline on the right... the 'laurel leaves' might be artificial flowers and pinned on to keep her happy...looks like they failed.
I think she is very young and not secure on her feet, add to that fair hair and you wouldn't see much of it.

Love the little boy's pose. It says it all, he really doesn't want to be dressed up in his Sunday best with the sissy girls, having his photo taken!

Smashing picture.

Thank you so much. The colour makes them look less scary. You have sorted out all the detail so well.
I think you are right about the little girl on the left. I think that there is a small table and she is holding onto it. Giving her some coloured hair makes her look much less ill.
Again thank you.

Hi Everyone,

All the restores are lovely but I love the coloured one PaulaToo.  Lovely job everyone!

May I say that there was no smiling allowed in the days when this pictures was taken.  Everyone was photographed with a straight face because of the exposure time.  How much harder this would have been for small children to stay still like that.

That might be the reason that they were given things to concentrate on. Poor little souls, were probably terrified!
