Southern Cemetery, Manchester - Grave Photograph?
« on: Saturday 20 September 08 22:01 BST (UK) »
Does anyone live near this very large Cemetery?  I would be very keen to receive a photograph of one of the graves in the Cemetery.

  Burial Number106360
 Deceased Name   John James Critchley
 Burial Ground  Church of England
 Date of Burial    04/06/1929
Cemetery    Southern
Section  X
Grave  384

John is buried with his sister Naomi Elizabeth Costello who was a first World War widow.  She died sometime between Oct-Dec 1946

Thanks

Alma ::)

Critchley Grave - South Cemetery, Manchester
« Reply #3 on: Monday 06 October 08 09:28 BST (UK) »
No headstone at all thanks to kind local visiting the site on my behalf.  Am now wondering how to proceed on this one.
Naomi E Costello buried 25 Nov. 1946 and was born 1870 Dublin. Not married in 1911 Dublin Census.  Her brother John James Critchley lived Crondall St, Moss Side.  Don't believe the Death Cert for Naomi would show her husband's name?  If any one has any ideas for me I would certainly be happy to be informed!  Perhaps local archive of The Guardian - appeared they lived Sth Manchester...

Thanks

Hi Alma

If Naomi was a WW1 widow then her husband should be on the http://www.cwgc.org/ website.

Additional information is often added like Parents Names and Wives. Just checked, it lists 146 various spellings of Costello.

You might just get lucky and get a match.

In my experience, death certs for married women usually mention husbands, whether alive or not.
It might be worth obtaining Naomi's death cert.
