Hi Paul,
The Stockley and Keats connection I have is Shadrach Keats and Martha Stockley married about 1730, yhe actual date escapes me right now.
Their son William Keats came to Newfoundland.
this family is actually on my mothers side of the tree.
William Keats' granddaughter married a Tilley and they are my grandmother's family.
My father's Keats came from Wareham.

I will Pm you.

Jeff

Hi Jeff

Was this marriage in Newfoundland? My wife is a Tilley, and I have quite a bit of info on Tilleys in Poole. I have no record of any of the family going to Newfoundland, but bearing in mind the important trade links between the two, it is quite possible. There is also lots of info in the Poole Local History Centre about family connections with Newfoundland. Let me know if I can help there.

The 1790 Corfe Castle census is on the Dorset OPC site. The first item listed. As far as I can remember it is as transcribed from the Dorset History Centre in Dorchester and you could e mail the transcriber although she does live in Australia!
Similar to other people I have several Corfe Castle Keats who are in my family tree, however all the information comes from the Dorset OPC site which I think is one of the best county sites that I have found. The family Dorset History Centre in Dorchester is very user friendly and helpful if you are able to pay it a visit. If your Keats search comes into Lukers then I can be of a greater help.

If you go to the National Archives website, fill "Stockley Dorset" in the search box, it comes up with lots of references which you can follow online.  Happy hunting!

Hi Bernie,
Had a computer crash and have been away from research for a while.
If this is a confirmed connection to England then your Keats' and Fogo are related to mine in Bonavista.

Hi Keon.  I'm hoping you still use Rootschat. My interest in the Stockley family starts with my ggg grandfather Henry Furmage, who married Caroline Stockley in Corfe Castle in 1843. There seems to be a whole army of Stockleys native to that area.

Hi not sure if you have checked out the OPC Dorset site for Corfe as mentioned earlier but as well as a 1790 census there is also one for 1811 1821 and 1831! I was lucky enough to contact the present clerk  who is local and she was extremely helpful in my search for particular Roes and Smiths in Corfe . There are plenty of Stockleys in the 1811 having had a quick glance. Happy searching!
