Jersey Marriage Look up Please

Hi,

Is anyone able to look up the marriage of John Daniel Lesbirel and Ellen Mauger.

I think they married about 186o - 1865 possibly St Ouen, Jersey.

Hi Michelle

I've looked at all Parishes for at least 1860 to 1865 and can see two potentials.

In St Ouen there is a marriage for John Lesbirel in the volume may 1861 to July 1869 on page 33. See below.

In Trinity there is a marriage for Jean Daniel Lesbirel, August 1842 to April 1868 on page 83. There is no entry for an Ellen Mauger on the same page.

But then it gets even more curious. If you count the number of males and females on the St Ouen's page, there are 2 males and 4 females. One of the entries is for Edouard Mauger. I suppose there is the possibility that it has been incorrectly indexed but then that would make it 5 females and one male!!

What I'll do on Thursday is go and have a look at that particular page and certificate and see what it says.

Incidentally I see a Jean Daniel Lesbirel went bankrupt around 1870.

Hi Stewart,

I am working on the assumption that John Daniel Lesbirel may have previously been married.

If he was I think it would have been to it would have been to Mary Perres. John was born about 1830 in Jersey.

Mary Perres was born about the same time and Ellen Mauger was born about 1841.

I have him on the 1871 census as a mariner in London.

1881 he is in Kirkdale Liverpool as a Labourer

1891 he is in Toxteth Park Liverpool as a mariner (seas).

It's the Trinity marriage!

Trinity Church, 9th October 1850 Jean Daniel Lesbirel, 20 a farmer, father Jean Daniel Lesbirel married Mary Perres, 24, father James Perres. Both born in Trnity.

The St Ouen marriage was to a Marie Vibert.

Now all I have to do is find if there was another marriage for Jean Daniel Lesbirel because he was definitely with Ellen Mauger when

they came to England. Maybe they never married.
