Book - Cookstown's War Dead 1914-18 & 1939-45
« on: Tuesday 23 September 08 19:09 BST (UK) »
I have recently bought a copy of the above book, published by Cookstown District Council, in co-operation wth the Mid-Ulster Branch of The Friends of the Somme (http://www.sommemidulster.org).

This book gives information about almost 400 servicemen & women (WW1) & 80 men (WW2) from Cookstown & surounding towns/villages such as Moneymore, Coagh & Stewartstown, who died during both conflicts.

The information on some is sketchy, but for others there are details of parents, siblings, friends who joined the Forces or who fought with them, battle information, & where they are buried, if known. I would recommend this for all who are interested in Cookstown's history.

If you can't get access to the book & have family members who died in WW1 or WW2, I am happy to send you a transcript of relevant entries. Please email me off list with details.

Best wishes,
