Boolavogue Catholic Church
« on: Wednesday 24 September 08 16:16 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know about the beautiful church in Boolavogue. I recently found out that my Great grandparents got married there in 1900 and have since visited but it was rather late when I eventually found it. I can find nothing on line about its date or anything at all about it as I would be interested to look at the records as my family were all living nearby. Also nearby was a pub on the corner of a junction and the landlady there was very helpful but I cant remember what its name was to get back in contact !!!
Perhaps someone may know the area as I am now back in the UK

Could it be St. Cormac's? (haven't been able to find a picture online)
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

It could well be St Cormac's as the name rings a bell. I have a picture which I will upload later today and might jog a few memories.

Folks just a correction, the photograph posted by Anbraca is actually the inside of the Monageer Church which is the half parish of Boolavogue.

The building of the Boolavogue Church ( St Cormac) began in 1842, and the first mass was said there on the 5th November 1848. It was consecrated on 20 Jan 1850. It was dedicated  to St Cormac on 4th Aug 1867.

Kind Regards
