John Cartwright, possibly Sheffield 1861
« on: Sunday 30 January 05 14:53 GMT (UK) »
Hi, can anybody help?

I'm trying to trace a John Cartwright in the 1861 Census. In 1851, he was living in Nantwich, Cheshire, aged 13 as an apprentice shoemaker.

He turns up again in th 1871 Census, he was living in East Wellhead, Heeley, Hallam, Sheffield, aged 32, as a boot and shoemaker. By this time, he was married to Sarah Ann, also aged 32. She was born in Sheffield.

Some info from the 1861 Census would help close down a 20 year gap, so it would be great if anyone could help.

Thanks

Neil

Sorry, can't find anything in Sheffield 1861 index.
Slack - Sheffield/Dbys/Lincs/Notts
Buxton/Oates/Mawhood/Simmonite/Rawson/Coombs/Dunk/Wilson/Bramham/Briggs/Cowley/Kay/Leesley/Sarson/White - all mainly Sheffield area
