tracing ancestor ballybay
« on: Monday 29 September 08 11:31 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find any information about Bridget Mahony who lived in Ballybay. She was born about 1825 to John Mahony.  She married someone called Graney and was widowed by the age of 25.  From then on she moved to England. She was my gt.gt grandmother.  I  was in Ballybay about 6 years ago but didn' t know where to look for information.  Such a small town lovely and clean. ???

Welcome to Rootschat. Do you mean Ballybay in Co. Monaghan, Ireland? If so if might be a good idea to move it to Monaghan board where people with local knowledge might be able to help.
Civil registration of births, death and Catholic marriages began 1864 so for earlier dates you need to check for church records (if they exist).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
