Hi Jan

Regarding http://www.historicaldirectories.org/hd/ select "find by keywords" and then select location "Kent" and type in keyword "Adsley", click find directories then select the 1913 Kelly's directory of Kent (click on the word "directory" at the end of the line).  You will get the first page of the directory so click on "next hit" - he's there.  It does seem to be a bit slow at the moment though ::)

With http://www.hereshistorykent.org.uk/ enter site and type in "Gravesend".  On the left, select "directories" the look through the pages of the 1934 Kelly's directory - he is on page 6.

My grandfather’s aunt, Amelia Rose (or Rose Amelia) Lenham, worked as a servant for Arthur Adsley and his family, wife Sophia, and children, Arthur Gee and Cyril Edgar in 1911.  I see the building is now an insurance business.
