1841 1851 1861 Census Corbett Durham

My great grandfather was William Corbett baptised 1840 at Chester le Street. Father George Corbett
stonemason mother Ann Dodds, I need to find William on the 1841 1851 1861 census returns. He is living in Jarrow in 1871 and is an engineer.

That 1851 is exactly right.Not sure about1861. George being a stonemason worked all over the place
and they actually had 3 children born in Prussia in the 1850`s. I`ll try Northumberland next as that is where they ended up

why are you not sure of the 1861, as he isnt with his parents on the 1861
as they are living at
St Andrews, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northumberland

Hi Ricki
It`s just the fact that from 1871 onwards William is an engineer/engine fitter,so at the age of 20 he should still have been apprenticed to this trade rather than a joiner.

10 years is a long time inbetween census's, plus on the 1871 he says he come's from Jarrow. You often see on census's  they have one job, and 10 years later something entirely different
