"Page Missing" SP census Image

I've just downloaded an 1871 Census image from Scotland's People. The page is totally blank with the words "Page Missing" across the middle.

I have been charged the 5 credits to view this "image" and if I go back to my Previous searches I can see that if I clicked on any of the other family members from the same schedule I will be charged the 5 credits again.

I have got in touch with SP about this but wondered if anyone else had come across this before?

How frustrating and annoying for you. I have had at least one instance where the image was totally illegible and having made a complaint to SP, they sent me a hard copy of it in the post and refunded my five credits.
If the page is actually missing, you're obviously not going to get to see it but if I were you, I'd try to get my credits back.

I've seen a few illegible images in my time, and only once did they send me a hard copy and give me my credits back. Now they just email me a better version. Sometimes I've been linked to incorrect images and they've emailed me the correct page. They are very quick at sorting these problems out, so all you can do is email them. I'm pretty sure you'll at least get your credits back.

I had the same thing happen and I emailed them regarding the matter. I got my credits back very quickly.

Hi Lynn 

As has been said, they are usually very good with returning credits, etc.  It might be worth checking if it is missing completely or just their version.

If it's just their's, depending on where the location is, you could either try your local  records office in Inverness or get the FH Centre in Ness Walk to get you in the film.

Thank you for your replies.

I have had a few illegible images before and have contacted them, they are very quick at responding and emailing a re-scanned image.

I have heard back from them and they have refunded my credits and I will maybe receive a copy of the image - this is the explanation I received from them below.

Page missing does not mean that no entry exists for this.
When 'page missing' is encountered it means that the entry has somehow
been missed from the original scan and the blank page inserted so as not
to throw the page numbers out of sequence, or the scan was not good
enough to be put in.. In instances such as this we  go to the census
book, take a copy from the actual page and send it to the customer so
will email the image  to you asap. I'll also refund the credits in
case there is any problem with this.

Credits have been refunded already......and have been spent.  Which is not difficult.

Thanks Gadget for reminding me about the FH Centre, I keep forgetting it is there.
