1st wife of Martin Everitt marr 1855 Grantham dist
« on: Thursday 02 October 08 13:02 BST (UK) »
Help needed please with bit of mystery 1st wife – here are facts I know

Name Elizabeth Dove  married Sep q 1855 Grantham 7a p.615  to Martin Everitt

NBI has death of Elizabeth Everett buried 9 May 1856  age 34
on FreeBMD  Newark 7b __9

[ Martin married again Dec q 1856 Newark 7b 565 ]

from age on NBI assume she born 1822 – she buried in Hough on the Hill

I am trying to find her on 1851 census  can anyone help pls ?
trouble is I don’t know where Elizabeth was born ??

Nearest I can see is a married Elizabeth Dove
1851 35 High St Colsterworth HO107  Piece 2102  Folio  151  p. 9
Elizabeth Dove 29  wife
George Dove 36  Head Cattle dealer & farmer 37 acres b.Stainby,Lincs
George Dove 1  son b.Colsterworth
Richard Grice 17  farm servant

Which MAY fit as on 1861 census Martin [with 2nd wife ] Elizabeth has a son George 11 b.Colsterworth

Can anyone concur with me ?

In 1851 Martin Everitt  is in Londonthorpe with his brother, Edis both unm working as journeyman

[Can’t see any Dove’s in Londonthorpe 1851 ]

Your scenario really requires the death of George DOVE.

He may have died
Deaths Sep 1852
DOVE    George        Grantham    7a   263
but the National Burial Index doesn't have a matching entry :(

This could be the marriage
Marriages Dec 1848
DEXTER    Elizabeth        Newark    15   1107
DOVE    George         Newark    15   1107

The IGI has the baptism of an Elizabeth DEXTER at Hough on the Hill 1822.

Note:  I have looked at Edis EVERITT before ... my EVERITTs were bakers in Boston (as was Edis in 1871) but I haven't yet found a connection.
Don't cry because its over. Smile because it happened.

Hi Geoff

Thanks for that... Yes I had seen the FreeBMD death of George shame no matching NBI though

So no other Eliabeth Doves unm popped up then that I had missed  ???

With the son George appearing in 1861 I am inclined to think she was the widow of George.

Edis Everitt - I had wondered if you had any connection [with the name etc ] he of course hailed from Glinton and is in Whites 1856 in Great Hale [where he had 2 of his children ] then moving to Boston with his family.
I believe 2 of his sons were bakers too.

Hello, just joined rootschat and found your message regarding Martin Everitt's wife.  Did he have more than 1 wife?  I have his wife as Elizabeth Staveley.

Cheers
MC

Hi mc60, welcome to Rootschat :)

I think we have these-

Marriages Sep 1855
DOVE    Elizabeth         Grantham    7a   615
EVERITT    Martin         Grantham    7a   615

(see Elizabeth DOVE in first post above)

NBI has death of Elizabeth Everett buried 9 May 1856  age 34

Marriages Dec 1856
Everitt    Martin        Newark    7b   565
Staveley    Elizabeth         Newark    7b   565

Elizabeth's son shown as George DOVE (1) in 1851 appears in 1861 as George EVERETT (11)
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.
