On the 1841 census it lists
JOhn Reid aged 55yrs
isobel reid aged 54 yrs   All in Marnoch Banffshire Scotland.
thomas aged 12 yrs

I know John reid married Isobel mclean in 1810 in Marnoch. they had a number of children.

On the parish records for Marnoch the only John Reid born is in 1796 which would not fit.

If on the 1841 census aged 55yrs puts him about 1786 birth.

I cannot find death as before 1851 census.
I cannot find a birth in Banff to match.

Any Ideas.

John and Isobel are on the 1851 census for Ordiquhill, Banffshire at Drums of Park, info from FreeCEN -

John, 65 born in Ordiquhill, Banffshire
Isabel, 66 born in Alvah, Banffshire
Isabel Reid, 25 born in Marnoch, Banffshire (daughter)
John Davidson, 14 born in Marnoch, Banffshire (grandson)
Rebecca Cumming, 8 born in Marnoch, Banffshire

A quick search of IGI shows the following children for John Reid and Isobel Maclean. All born Marnoch, Banff

Elspet 1815
John 1818
William 1820
Ann 1822
Allan 1823
Isobel 1825
Thomas 1829

Another quick search of IGI shows a John Reid christened 14th Jun 1786 at Ordiquhill, Banff to Alexander Reid and Mary Ewen along with 4 other children.

It would all seem to fit but John and Isobel don't seem to have followed the naming pattern.

I have now managed to add a few names to my tree , does any one know how to find the birth of an Alexander reid, he married mary Ewen in 1785 Ordquhill, I have thanks to a great rootschat member got his desendants, but I am guessing his birth at 1750??

His children I have listed as
william 1797 Marnoch
Alexander 1794
William  1789 Ordquhill
unknown male 1788
and john my family line.
