Gordon Castle estate manager KERR
« on: Monday 31 January 05 13:30 GMT (UK) »
I am not sure if I am the correct area to ask this as I am confused as to where Gordon Castle actually was in the 1840's!

So feel free to send me somewhere else!

I have been told that John Henry KERR was the Estate manager of Gordon Castle ( it may have been Huntleys ) - probably sometime in the 1840's.

He was married to Jane ??( she was born in Scotland 1813) , and they had a daughter Jane KERR in 1837 in Wapping, Stepney in London ENG.

Their other daughter was known for her tall stories so it is with trepidation that I even post this...she claims she was born in Scotland. She fibbed about her age but we think it may have been 1847 when she was born. She went by the name of Margaret Gordon KERR but from at least 1871 the Janes and Margaret were back in the Stepney area of England.

John Henry KERR had died before 1871

If there is anyone who might help out with some clues, I'd be most grateful.

John Henry Kerr's great granddaughter is 90 and living in Canada so I would really like to help her sort out the family mysteries .

Thanks kindly

The estate papers above may help you find reference to staff names?  I'm no expert in that field so not sure?

Hope this helps,
