Thanks Lynda for the comment re Mrs Forman's.  She must have been quiet a personality to run the place for 40 years or more after George died. Sue

Lynda, a photograph would be fantastic.  I was reluctant to even ask if anyone could see if it was still standing.  We did a Google search and there is a photo of the inn on a list of restaurants and pubs in the Inveresk area.  We also have one about circa 1924.  I also have a photo of this Mrs Forman nee Marion Bowman.

I notice you have Blyth listed in you family  list.  I have a GGG grandmother a Lilias Blyth daughter of James Blyth sailor, and Agnes Lownie of Newburgh, Fife. Is there any connection?

I await you photographic endevours, best wishes
Sue

Dear All

I hope you don't mind me joining in this chat, but I am keen to get hold of a pic Mrs Marion Forman nee Bowman.

I am currently refurbishing Mr Formans Public House and the Pubs history is going to play a big part in our re launch.

I would also like to know where and when George Forman and Marion got married, its the missing bit of info on our Pubs story.

Naturally if anyones intrested in other aspects of the pubs history I will be only to happy to help.

Kindest regards

John

Hi Landlord,

I could not send you a private email, however, George Foreman and Marion owman married at Duddingstone Edinburgh, on 14.07/1826.  I would be happy to help you in your research for your pub.  I only live a few minutes away in Prestonpans.

Regards,
Lynda

Hi Lynda

Having that date is a great start, thank you.

As you pointed out I'm not able to send personal messages on the site just yet, would you help me track down a photo of Mrs Forman nee Bowman by contacting some of the above members?

The other missing bit of info - when did the pub come out of Forman ownership?

Appreciate your help on this Lynda, Fiona and I hope to welcome you to the new look Mrs Forman's in a month or two.

Thank you again

John

Mrs Foreman died in 1888, and as far as I can see her daugther Bethia died in 1/10/1907 at Levenhall.  As Levenhall was the area around the public house, I assume that she may have been the last Foreman to have lived there....however, I am sure that someone out there may know

Have a look at this site...you may find i interesting
