Hi Caraid,

I maybe should have mentioned that Craise is sometimes spelled differently, for example as Crease, Crais, Craes or other variations.   In fact the Tranent family is spelled as Crease in the 1861 Census.

I would like to know if someone can help me find out if someone is buried in Tranent Cemetery.
The name is Mary Cullen and her date of death is 18/5/1899. Her husband was Owen Cullen, and her father was James McGowan and her mother was Mary nee Confrey/Conifrey. I believe the church may have been that of St. Martins of Tours.
It may be probable that there is no headstone, but if I can find out for definite that she is buried in there it would be a great help.
Thanks for any help.

thanks for getting back so quickly, I believe that she would be buried in Tranent Cemetery as it is the catholic one, I would like to know where I can find out for sure where she is buried. I believe also that there are quite a few Cullens buried there.

hi lyndyloo6,
I believe if any Cullens are in a graveyard, it would be the one that is not attached to  the Church of Scotland , as they were Catholics, I spoke to the beadle of the church there, and he said to go to the cemetery at the bottom of the road, and then round the roundabout, if you know what I mean, I did that and went into the cemetery, but due to ill - health, I wasn't able to go round the whole place, and then again, there may not be a headstone, which is why I would like to know if they would have a register of burials in the churchyard.
Thanks once again for your help, hope to hear more from you
