Internees - Isle of Mann
« on: Monday 06 October 08 13:20 BST (UK) »
I wondered if anyone had any way to find out internee names during WW1/2;

I am not sure where my husbands German Great grandfather was but know he was released during WW1 from Frith Hill in Sept 1919;
I now have a copy of his WW2 tribunal card courtesy Peter Towey of FHS which although quite well marked is hard to understand;
I cannot place it on here yet as it has to be made smaller but the dates say he was exempt for internment in 1939, yet he wasnt released until 1941; It does not say where from but gives his home address, and occupation past and present.  It looks like he may have been under some sort of house arrest and I dont know whether this was done in either wars.
So I am trying to establish whether he was interned as a normal procedure, sent to Isle of Mann then released from there.  It is a mystery.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Maybe this is the wrong board??!!
