Hi ericx,

I think that what is consecrated or not, depends on the "local religion" or which denomination owns the cemetry, .

I found this reference for instance for England:
http://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/NR/rdonlyres/1F3DEBF9-B9BF-4285-BE91-9B07B1A2A42E/0/LH_LMA_cemetery.PDF

it's a pdf-file so I can't copy & paste, but it says, basically,

Church of England members were buried in consecrated ground,
"Those buried in unconsecrated ground would have been Christians of other denominations, those of other faiths and those of none"

Hope this helps,
Bob

Sometimes, prisoners and suicides were also buried in unconsecrated ground even if they had been baptised C of E (they had gone against the beliefs of the church).

Best wishes

Greeting's..... Ericx.

Another tip I've found in all my Churchyard searches is that the
" Unconsecrated Ground " has been on the
NORTH SIDE of the Church Graveyard......
