I will be pursuing the direction that you and gadget recommended;- ie., obtaining transcripts from the government of Scotland.
If anyone out there has more information that would/could shed light on this family of (John) Thomas Smith and Margaret Bleakie , please use this forum - this internet discussion group to share knowledge.
