About to give up!!

I have tried all the ways i know to try and find out more about my great grandfather, but thought i would try one last time on here as you are a clever lot!!.
My g/grandfather was Walter Davies.  As he died in 1925 i only have the information off his wedding cert & death cert to go by.

Walter Davies married Ann c Rowlands Sept 1917. His age at time was 23. His fathers name on the cert is Richard Davies, occupation farm labourer.
Walters address at time was Rhydgarnedd llanegryn, his occupation was Private 14th battalion S. Lancashires.
Walter died in Tywyn in  Nov 1925 (age 32)

Has anyone any ideas of where to look next? I really am stuck!!

No i haven't been able to find any record of him and as he died in 1925 there are no members of my family who know anything about him.
I have looked at some 1901 census but cant find a match

A stab in the dark but the following family are listed in the 1901 census
RG13, piece 3856,folio76, page 18
Arthur 9
Cordilia 17
Edwin 47
Eliz ann47
Joseph E 15
Richard T 12
Stanley H 8
Walter 6
The whole Davies family is listed as being born in Wales nothing more specific.
The registration district is accrington Lancashire.
If they were living inLancs that could be why he served in the regiment. I know its a long shot but have you tried to find his service records from WW1?

Thanks for looking but i don't think it's them as Richard was Walter's father.
I cant find anything on the 14th battallion except that they may have been a 'home guard' type unit.

I found this on the 1901 census
Walter Davies.... father Richard a Farm carter.. Living At Kerry/ Newtown Montgomeryshire....which isn't a million miles from Rhydgarnedd Llanegryn. I also found the marriage of Walter and Ann Rowlands that was registerd at Machynlleth which is also not too far from Kerry/Newtown.

Note that the recorder of the census has Mont Kerry ,Ireland. 

This is INCORRECT as Kerry is a town in MONTGOMERYSHIRE and you will the mistake on the original document
