Margaret Kyle Richardson of Stranraer
« on: Saturday 11 October 08 03:00 BST (UK) »
Trying to find information on my great-grandmother, Margaret Kyle Richardson. She was born in Stranraer on March 06, 1879. I don't know the names of her parents, but was told that Kyle was a family name. Not sure if this means that it was a surname that was given to her as a middle name, or if it was just a name the family liked to pass on.

She left Scotland for Canada around 1912, were she married Henry McAllister (he was from Lanarkshire) on October 18, 1912 in Collingwood East, British Columbia, Canada. They had three children: Margaret, Henry and Andrew. They later moved to the United States, settling in Seattle, Washington.

This is all the information that I have, not much to go on I know. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Problem with email

McAllister, Richardson

Hello, your post caught my eye as the name looked familiar. Have checked my tree and Margaret is a distant relative of mine. I can tell you that her parents are Robert Richardson, born about 1853 in Ireland,he died 1923 in Stranraer, Scotland. He was a park keeper. Her mother was Mary Milvea, born about 1855 in Portpatrick,Scotland, she died 1917 in Stranraer. They were married in Kirkcolm on 4 June 1873.As well as Margaret they had six other children:
Isabella c1874
John c1882
Lizzie c1885
Robert c1887
Georgina c1890
Mary c1892

Robert Richardson's parents were John Richardson, born c1814 in Ireland,he died 1899 in Leswalt,Scotland and Margaret Kyle, born 1811 in Ireland, she died Leswalt,Scotland 1892.These are my ggg grandparents.
John Richardson's parents were Arthur Richardson and Isabella Keilttie(or similar name, was difficult to read on original documents)
Margaret Kyle's parents were Robert Kyle and Sarah Robertson.

Feel free to get in touch if you'd like more info.

Hi, wee bit more on Mary Milvea. She died 14-4-1917 age 62. Her address at this time ws 51 Agnew crescent,Leswalt.  Her parents were James Milvea and Janet McDonald. Her DC was signed by her son John who lived in Ayr.Also re my previous message, Keilty is indeed an error, the correct surname is Daly.
