Orton, Burghead and Kinloss Railway Station
« on: Sunday 12 October 08 16:31 BST (UK) »
A husband of one of my ancestors was a Booking Clerk at Burghead Station in 1915.  He also worked at Orton and Kinloss.

His last place of work was Alves Station in the late 1940s.

I have a photo of him from the small book on Alves.

Can anyone recommend any book or railway site that might give me any information on Orton and Burghead Railway Stations.

Thanks

Betty

Hi Betty,

The website www.railbrit.co.uk/ has information on both modern and closed railways.  If you look at the maps or the companies tabs you'll find information on closed lines (Orton and Burghead are both mentioned).

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Thanks for the sites.  I will have a look at them.

One of them has just prompted me to do what I intended doing ages ago.  Join the Family History Society.

Thanks
