The vast majority of the Census records and most probate records were destroyed as well as the records of approximately 1000 Church of Ireland parish records were destroyed but the records for the Catholics, Methodists and Presbyterians were not destroyed. Many of the C of I clergy sent copies of their register and retained the original.
