You could do worse than starting here
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,70459.0.html

A good starting point is always to work backwards from what you know into the unknown. So you need more detail from your friend; details of the Albon she starts with eg father/grandfather or whoever, plus anything else that she knows about the family

Or you could look at the 1881 census on www.familysearch.org.

Or you could use the Hugh Wallis site, thankfully now operating again, at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers/CountryEngland.htm#PageTitle to isolate all the Albons in the two parishes.

Or you see what research has already been done at http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/ where there are 78 Albon names born in Arlesey (some are duplicates)

But if it involves the 20th century then it's not so straightforward online

There were a LOT of Albons in Arlesey - 172 in 1881!

Hi Joyous,
Just noticed your thread and thought I'd let you know that my husband's mum was an Albon (sometimes the family is Albone) from Arlesey.
I've looked into the family a little - and the family you are researching may have a connection, but as bedfordshire boy says there are lots of Albon/Albones in Arlesey.
Interesting, too, to note that many of the Arlesey families intermarried:

And lots stayed very close to homw - which makes life a lot easier than my lot!
