Hello,
Alfred Thompson is my Great Great Grandfather. He came to Australia and had 5 children    William Ernest Thompson 1867 – 1948,  Alfred Charles Thompson 1868 – 1906, Henry Thompson 1870 – 1949 (my great grandfather),  Elizabeth Bessie Thompson 1873 – 1959, and  Fanny Thompson 1881 – 1971. He died on the 19th of May 1920. He was an engineer with the railways and lived in Brighton Victoria, Australia.

Henry Thompson married Grace Mathews from Kangaroo Flat in Victoria Australia in 1893 (a good Scottish union) and had   4 children: Amanda "Nin" Thompson,  Fanny Elenor Victoria Thompson 1894 – 1956, Redvers Fredrick Thompson  1900 – 1901, Stanley Hope Thompson 1902 – 1960 (my Grandfather).

Stanley married Dorothy Breheney on Sept 25th 1925 and they had , 5 children 4 girls (one deceased) and a boy He was an architect.

That's great  my mother knew about her great grandmother Fanny Shields being born at sea- I found this about her

here's a story about her.

Now I have a different birth year for Alfred snr-born 1836 Bristol, Whoever loaded it onto Ancestry.com put that date in. Oh and my mother had 12 children and between us there's something like 35 grandchildren so even though we aren't Thompsons the spirit lives on. We are scattered all around Australia.

Alfred was supposedly born 1837 but it must have been 1836 as there is  a record of him being baptised in Publow in 1836 - his siblings Priscilla and Frederick were also baptised in Publow, Somerset
