Marriage for Waltham/Forsdike
« on: Sunday 19 October 08 19:46 BST (UK) »
Has anyone got access to the Waterbeach Parish Records.

I found a marriage for a :-

William Waltham and Jemima Forsdike on 13/05/1824 on a site which I paid for but it doesn't name the father of either.

It has taken me a long time to find this (only to be beaten by the no father) as I had been looking under the Lincolnshire records for the marriage.

Also if any offspring as the only one I have is a Walter born in Moulton, Lincs in 1838 a long time after the marriage.

thanks in advance

You are very unlikely to find fathers names added for marriages before 1837 when civil registration starts and you can purchase certificates.

Cambs FHS's excellent website at http://www.cfhs.org.uk/Search.html includes a baptism index 1801-37

There are no Walthams in it

The site that you paid for, possibly http://www.familyhistoryonline.net/ has everything that is included in the entry, so looking at the parish register won't add anything. Do the names of the two witnesses to the marriage mean anything to you - Samuel WARREN and Lydia KING?

The witness names don't mean anything at the moment but I will dig a bit more, thanks anyway.

I have found both of them in the 1841 census, Jemima working as a domestic, and William at the Turnpike in Moulton, Lincs. The son Walter was with an aunt and uncle, Sophia and Joseph White.

I checked up and a Sophia Waltham marries Joseph White in 1825, all of this in Moulton, Lincs.

Sadly William Waltham died in 1842 with spouse Jemima present at death, in Moulton.

In 1851 and 61 Jemima comes from Otley Suffolk, and I believe I have her family just needed it confirming.

I cannot find a Sophia with a Brother William.
