Pearson - 1871 and 1891
« on: Wednesday 02 February 05 01:27 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for William Pearson, brother of my ggg grandmother Catherine Pearson.

He was baptised at Kirby Wiske in North Yorkshire in 1843.

The 1881 census shows this entry for him:

1881 census
Dwelling:   New Row Cottages
Census Place:   Kirby Wiske, York, England
Source:   FHL Film 1342163     PRO Ref RG11    Piece 4820    Folio 157    Page 2
   Marr   Age   Sex   Birthplace
William PEARSON   M   37    M   Kirby Wiske, York, England
   Rel:   Head
   Occ:   Ag Lab
Luisa PEARSON   M   32    F   Northallerton, York, England
   Rel:   Wife
Mary E. PEARSON   U   13    F   Kirby Wiske, York, England
   Rel:   Daur
   Occ:   Scholar
Tom PEARSON       6    M   Kirby Wiske, York, England
   Rel:   Son
   Occ:   Scholar
Annie Maria PEARSON       4    F   Kirby Wiske, York, England
   Rel:   Daur
Henry PEARSON       1    M   Kirby Wiske, York, England
   Rel:   Son
Richard METCALFE   U   17    M   Spennithorne, York, England
   Rel:   Lodger
   Occ:   Gardener

There is such a big gap between Mary and Tom, I was wondering whether Luisa was his second wife.

By 1901 William was living alone in Thirsk.and working as a traction engine driver.

Yes - they were a pretty big family - 8 brothers and sisters altogether.

Many thanks for Luisa.

I think Henry must have died. In 1901 Tom was with Uncle Richard in Headingley. Mary married a John Sykes in Northallerton in 1893. And I think Annie Maria was in York.

Could be a possibility. I've nver found marriage or death entry for Louisa so know nothing much about her.

Could be Susanna Louisa. Would love to see the entry - think all Kirby Wiske Pearsons must be mine ...............

Oh wonderful. Many thanks for that.

What a moron I've been - have now found Louisa in 1901 - age out by just a few years.

She had split from William - didn't happen much in those days.

1901 index
Louisa Pearson  55 Yorkshire Northallerton Yorkshire South Kilvington Living On Own Means Separated From Husband

Would like to see brother George and wife Elizabeth in Kirby Wiske in 1871 and then I'll shut up ...........
