John Joseph served with the Connaught Rangers in WW1 and left the army as a Sergeant-Major. He and his wife Elsie lived at; 74, New Road, Copnor, but tragically he died in 1936 as a result of a bus accident on Portsdown Hill and is buried in Milton cemetery with his wife Elsie who died in 1958 (59), the grave is close to that of his parents.

1901 census;

Limerick Road, Tipperary Town;

that family is also there in the 1911 census, but not in the register of electors 1940/41.
