I was looking for a family born Kinson - and there were no John Gibbs born Kinson on the 1861  - only a John born Canford living with grandparents.

On 1871 I then found John b. 1859 Poole with parents James and Ann ,  and also Henry John Gibbs b. 1863 Kinson

Here it is - remember, this is not the one who was Robert's father; Robert's father was Henry John Gibbs and wasn't born until later in 1861 - he does not appear on this census

I would guess that daughter-in-law here, as applied to Mary Ann Gibbs aged 20, probably means step daughter (the expressions were inter-changeable    )

Hi - I seem to have found 2 John Gibbs - one is born MarQ 1860 Poole 5a 317 and then we have Henry John Gibbs born 1861 q4. However, the entries for henry John Gibbs seem to match better than John Gibbs Born 1860 - I just wonder if the 1861 entry for John gibbs is the wrong one?  Is it possible to serarch the 1861 for Henry John? What do you think?

Caroline - Henry John is not on the 1861.  He wasn't born until Q4. (Nov-Dec) 1861

His birth reg is Q4. 1861 Poole  Vol. 5a.  Pg. 261

In 1861 his parents - William and Sarah Jane, are living in Emsbury, right next to Kinson, with their first child Martha Ann.

Henry John born Q4. 1861 was the father of Robert on the 1901 - he just dropped the Henry in 1901 - he was Henry J on the 1891.
