Hi Whdsn.

This family might be a possibility, but so many people with the same surname. ???

1891 Ystradfodwg
RG12 4424 F22 P39

Thomas Hughes/H/45/ Collier/ Glamorgan, Pontrhdyfen
Frances Hughes/wife/39/ Galmorgan, Havod.
Catherine Hughes/dau/16/domestic servant/ Glamorgan, Ystrad
Thomas J Hughes/son/14/ collier/                        "                "
Elizabeth A Hughes/dau/9/                                   "                "
Gwendoline Hughes/dau/5                                   "                "
David Hughes/son/4                                             "                "
Frances Jane Hughes./dau/2                                 "                 "

It would be an idea to send for Thomas J Hughes birth certificate to prove mothers name.

Hi whdsn,

It's possible  his birthday was Jan/Feb/March, which would make him 24 on the 1901 census.

Very often a family naming pattern was followed, as with my family, have you got any of those names mentioned in the 1891 in your family? Frances being this Thomas J mother, his second daughter might have been named after her.

hi ambers
i had a look at the 1901 census and it says thomas and thomas j were coal hewers. thomas j children names were Annie, Elizabeth and George. on the marriage certificate i got it shows thomas j was a haulier in coal and his father was a labourer. one of the witnesses was a Elizabeth hughes the other was his father. Hi whsdn,

I have just found the Thomas J Hughes on the census in 1891, is still with his family  1901....sorry he is not the one you are looking for.

This was the only family that was the best match for the details you gave.

Getting his  birth certificate would be best, so  we have his mothers name to search for also.

hi ambers
I'm having trouble finding thomas mother Elizabeth. i think she was married before, because she has a son called john t limones born in falmouth 1875. when she married thomas h hughes would she use her birth surname or her married name limones. Wayne
