Emigrants to South Australia
« on: Monday 27 October 08 11:06 GMT (UK) »
William Davis b 1785 in Somerset had at least 8 siblings. One son Charles Davis b 1815 (my direct line) came to South Australia aboard the Hooghly in 1839 with his wife Mary. I am trying to find out if any of Charles siblings also came to Australia and if so where they lived.
John b 1806; William b 1807; George b 1817; Edmund b 1820;  Harriet b 1824 and Elizabeth b 1824.
I am not sure if these are all the siblings as there is an eight year gap between Charles and George.
Any help appreciated.  ;D

Aileen if any of them happened to emigrate to South Australian before 1850, you may find them here -
http://www.familyhistorysa.info/shipping/passengerlists.html
Search using the surname and trawl down the list.

If you find any name of interest and the ship, you can search here and find the ship and passenger list
http://www.slsa.sa.gov.au/fh/passengerlists/BoundforSouthAustralia.htm

Good luck.

Cheers

I use to have a link to find passengers who applied for or had assisted passage but I seem to have lost it.
That is a big list of passengers - is there any site where details of the passengers can be found eg dob, etc.
There are a couple of possibilities.
Thanks - you've helped me before and I appreciate it.

Aileen if you find any of what could be your family on the first link.....note the ship and year and then search for the year and then the ship on the 2nd link and that will give you the full passenger list

or Search the State Archives
http://www.archives.sa.gov.au/
> Search Collection...on the menu at top of page
> Searching on the left menu
> Passenger lists on the left  menu

http://www.theshipslist.com/ships/australia/SAassistedindex.htm
http://www.theshipslist.com/index.html  - search the shipslist at the bottom of the page.
