aim25.ac.uk

AIM25 is a major project to provide electronic access to collection level descriptions of the archives of over ninety higher education institutions and learned societies within the greater London area.
This work is in progress; new descriptions are being added regularly. A number of descriptions have not yet been supported by additional index entries. Their indexing will follow later in the course of the project. Please visit often to see the latest additions.

similar to A2A (do we have that in the list?)

Morning Kerry  :)

oldtowns.co.uk
describes towns as they were back then then searchable firstly by county then by town - not every town is there but worth a look
doesn't give people information.

i was going to print it out when the topic reached page 20- so i only copied over the first few pages of links so the rest is lost unfortunately

By sheer good luck, I found I could look at and save the old Part One thread from  10 September 07 to 4th October 08, using Google search, as follows:

At Google search page, perform search for

what's free on the net migky january

then click on 'cached' option.  You get a snapshot of the page as it appeared at 13/10/08, but you can't bookmark it of course because its gone.  You can however save it as a text file, so you have the link addresses to copy/paste into your browser. Or print out (38 pages!) but I am doing this right now, just to be sure. Give it a try!

I was trying all sorts to try and get the whole thread - just 'what's free on the net' brought up all sorts of awful stuff. Adding 'Migky' brought it to Rootschat because of course there is only one Migky  ;D ;D.
then I added months of the year thinking I could get it page by page that way, but for some reason, adding 'january' got me the whole lot.

 :) Barbara
