1871 lookup please

Dear Rootschatters,
Could some kind person look for the following:
John West born 1828/30 ish, (he constantly changed his age!!) born in Swell ,Somerset, but frequently put Swansea, (on his shipping papers).
 I honestly don't know whether he was still in the Navy ,(Merchant possibly) or was back in Somerset or somewhere else, but any help would be much appreciated. He was single.

Do you have Ellena's maiden name as I can only find them on 1891 and 1901

As Ellena give Ruishton(Village nr Yeovil) as birth place  it is some distance from Swell,Fivehead and I wondered if she can be tracked down.in case John is in same area

He is not in Fivehead in 1871 for certain as only 21 returns for there

Thanks, but....he was single in 1871.    He did not marry Elena until 1881.  We know he was at sea until 1864.   We don't know where he was in 1871 and this is the gap we are trying to fill - thanks a lot!!!
