hi again
wow, great stuff CEP, Bocking park farm, wonder if it still exists ? and they certainly had some childeren ! so Emma didnt make it to the 1861 census and a farmer needs his food so he didnt waste time and found another wife !

I noticed that the farm was on Panfield lane, and on playing around looking for parents of Peter Rogers c1802 I found a marriage ; Peter Rogers & Elizabeth Smith 26-11-1789, Panfield, Essex. also birth, Peter Rogers abt 1764 of Panfield.
On checking Multi-map I see that Panfield is only about a mile away from Bocking,,,,, I wonder ? does match the names you gave for the baptism of Peter 1802.
Are Peter and Elizabeth still around for the 1841 census ?

Must stop jumping to conclusions!  ,,,, yes I tend to do that too often  ::) only had a few Min's this morning and should have waited until I had read everything thoroughly.

Well, studied everything carefully and think I've got it now  ;D Wonder why young Julia is staying with her Grandparents in 1861 ?

What did you think about the marriage and birth I found for Peter's parents ;  looking for parents of Peter Rogers c1802 I found a marriage ; Peter Rogers & Elizabeth Smith 26-11-1789, Panfield, Essex. also birth, Peter Rogers abt 1764 of Panfield.
all the best

hi all
just as a mater of interest really,, does anyone have any idea what ' crape' means ??? I come across this termquite often and thought it quite strange that so many Rogers seemed to be making pancakes/omlets ? but this puts the word 'crape' in a silk weaving context.

Hi

For your interest my husband is the x3 Great Grandson of Daniel Smith b 1797 and Farmer of Bocking Park Farm, Panfield Lane. Joseph Smith was his x3 Great Uncle.
On the 1851 Census Daniel is listed as a Farmer of 80 acres employing 7 labourers. Joseph was the second eldest of 7 sons and 1 daughter

Best wishes
