Your problem is not knowing a more detailed location.... if you did you could focus the search a bit. The IrishGenealogy website covers most of the Dublin city parishes, but not many in the county, and doesn't cover any of the neighbouring counties. Some records for parts of Co. Dublin, and for the other counties close to Dublin are available on the pay website of the Irish Family History Foundation / RootsIreland.

The Irish Civil BMD Index is available free on the FamilySearch website - see:

My Ancestor came from Ireland - where do I start?

Thanks for looking.

This is my only Irish connection. I am aware that Irish records are generally incomplete so i did not hold out alot of hopes. It was a longshot really although i hoped that the location of a brother may provide me with the breakthrough i needed.

Any other ideas are much welcome. i see that Anc**try has a death in Dublin South for a Lawrence Cassidy in 1867, aged 67 - could this be the father....

TB

Rootsireland.ie has a Lawrence Cassidy birth in 1800 Dublin, couldn't find any of the others.
It's pay to view the full record and you have to register to search.

It's €5.00 a look, not a subscription site so I wouldn't rate you're chances. I know I can't afford it sorry.
In any case it looks like you need one of the childrens birth certs and a marriage for Lawrence before you would know if these birth and death records are your Lawrence.

You are probably right - although as the childrens births are likely to in the 1820's and 1830's i don't think i will find any records.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Don't give up, it would be church records if you do find them and new ones get added every now and than so fingers crossed.
