just looked at deaths that Isles mentioned
frances usher recorded as age 0 from soulcoates ref :9d 185 (sept 1926)
herbert usher was 51 died ipswich ref:4a 1283(sept 1939)

Thanks for your input Isles, Andrea and Newby - it all helps, but I still haven't got details of Fanny or Herberts death.

Fanny was born 1869, so would have been 55 when as a widow she re-married, this time to Herbert Usher - (Thanks to Andy above).

This age does not match any of the deaths of a Fanny or Frances Usher that I can see. 

As for Herbert Usher, have no idea of his age (or parents) so cannot verify the death mentioned by Newby. But if he was 51 in 1939, that would make him 36 when he married Fanny aged 55??

I've just come across a reference that states her second husband (Herbert Usher) was an interior decorator - if that is any help

I've found a possible death for Fanny.

Fanny Usher age 66, Dec Qtr 1935, Middleton Registration District, Vol 8d  Page 750

Middleton Reg Dist is near Manchester and the age seems to fit if her birth is Fanny Sowden Sept Qtr 1869. 

You would need to purchase a copy of her death certificate in order to confirm whether it is her.

I feel I can order a cert with some confidence now.
