Welcome to rootschat.   I think you have all my research on Sylvester already.  Born c1690 in Burtersett and marrying Jane Metcalf in Aysgarth in 1713.  I have not managed to get him further back but he has not been a priority as I have still been unable to prove a connection between him and my Francis Sill born c1775.   I am fairly sure there is one but proving it is another matter!
Perhaps you could try starting a thread on the North Yorkshire board and see if anything new comes to light on your particular line?
