Thankyou Pam.

The William King I'm looking for would have been 15 at the time of the 1841 census

In 1851 he was living at 11 North St Tynemouth and was aged 26

Welcome to Rootschat!

Was he with other family members in 1851? If so what were their names?
What was his occupation in 1851?

Jennifer

Hello Jen

Thanks for taking the trouble to look this up for me, I really appreciate the trouble you have gone to  :-*

That's certainly the right area he was in, does it say where he was born?

The only problem I have in wondering if this was him, is with the age.

That's certainly the right area he was in, does it say where he was born?

The 1841 census doesn't give actual place of birth, simply whether born in county (Y or Yes) or not born in county (N or No)

There is a Y after William's name, so the best we can say is that he was born in Northumberland.

The only problem I have in wondering if this was him, is with the age.

There is very often an age discrepancy between censuses, so this isn't too much of a problem. William is entered as aged 36 in the 1861 census.

There are two other William Kings in the same age range, one in Tynemouth and one in Newcastle on Tyne, and I can give you these entries if you wish. Given the occupation, this one seemed the best match.

Hi Jen.

He was most definitely in the Tynemouth area.

If it's not too much trouble for you, I wouldn't mind seeing the other entry for Tynemouth.

Once again thankyou
