Surpisingly, there aren't that many Kings in Tynemouth.

The children's birth registrations are likely to be: Thomas (Mar 1844); Ann (Dec 1845); William (Mar 1848); James (Sep 1850) making this a likely marriage:

Jun 1843   Tynemouth 25 398
William King
Elizabeth Hay or Bartram

I think it is worth buying the certificate as it would give William's father's name and occupation.

I looked for suitable Ann Bartrams (none) and Hays in the 1841 census. There is a 20 year-old Elizabeth Hay with a mother called Ann, but it would be better to find out her father's name from the certificate.

Thankyou Richard and Jen.

My Granfather was James Hay King and his Father was Henry Hay King.

That sounds promising.

Definitely purchase the marriage certificate, then you will find out the name and occupation of William's father.

There is a family tree on ancestry.co.uk that gives William's father as Thomas (bc1800), a shipwright. This appears to come from William's marriage certificate.

It also says that William married Elizabeth Hay at the Tynemouth parish church in 1843, and her parents were James (bc1806), a blacksmith and Elizabeth (bc1801) (whose parents are William and Dorthy (nee Ritchie) Hay.

I thnk the Hay family appear on the 1841 census in All Saints, but Thomas' age is probably a guesstimate.
