Right here goes.

1841

Ann Scoulding 45  W. M/W   (??)  Y
Susan   "         10                         Y
Thomas  "        22  Lab                 Y
Elizabeth "       22                        Y
James      "        6mts                   Y

Living in Tivetshall St Mary's

No William Woodcraft Hmm. Could have with grandparents?
I went looking for him and the only William I found was this one.

Daniel Woodcraft   57     y
William       "           27
Angelina     "          10
William       "            3

tried to check where they were in 1851

And the only family that fitted was this

Elizabeth Woodcraft     Widow 73  Pauper b. Tibenham, Nfk
William            "             Son      37  Ag lab  b. Aslacton
Angelina          "            Gdau    20              b. Tivetshall
Susan              "            Gdau      5              b. Tivetshall
Benjamin Nichols          Lodg      42             b. Tivetshall
He was a chelsea pensioner

So may be William Woodcroft was the son of one of Elizabeths brothers and they adopted him.??

I will check the 1861 if you want to see whats happening there.just let me know ok

All the best Angela.

Angela
Thanks for that that was great.
Could you tell me was that the only SKOULDINGS in Tivetshall in 1841.
A 1861 search for SKOULDING would be great.
William should be SKOULDING in 1861 not WOODCRAFT ( if this is the same William).
Thanks again

Hi I will check the 1861 this afternoon and the 1841 again for any other Scouldings.

William was called Woodcraft in the 1851? when he was with the family. I only have the transcribed copy of the 1851 but he is ither their son born before they were married or an adopted son. Was Woodcraft Elizabeths Maiden name?

Anyway talk to you later ok.

All the best Angela.

Hi Angela
I will look forward to hearing from you later.
Thomas Skoulding married Elizabeth Woodcraft 1840.
The problem I've got is William Skoulding born about 1839 Tivetshall is my 2nd Great Grandad I've got him on 1871 and 1881 its looking like he may have been Woodcraft on the 1851 so I'm hoping the 1861 can clear it up or maybe another William Skoulding on the 1841 1851??????????
Thanks again from a confused Karen

Hi,

it really looks like William is Thomas and Elizabeths son and he was born before they married often they just adopted the family name but  his birth and chr records would probably be under Woodcraft.

Thats the misfortune of the 1841 it doesn't give relationships. Maybe because Elizabeth had just had James, William was staying with relations in 1841 to give the couple a break??

There were no other Scouldings of any variation that I could see in 1841.

In 1861 here is the family again and William is now put down as Scolding but I feel his records would be under Woodcraft.

Thomas Scolding  Head  42  Ag lab  b. Tivetshall st Marys
Elizabeth    "          Wife  42             b. Aslacton
William        "           Son  22 Ag Lab  b. Tivetshall St Marys
James         "            Son 20 Ag lab              "
Robert         "            Son 14 Ag lab   b.        "
Susanna      "            dau 11                        "
Amelia          "            dau  9                         "
Sarah           "            dau  7                         "

No address just living in Tivetshall St Marys

Next door (or next entry) is

Elizabeth Woodcraft widow 82 House Proprietor b.Tibenham
Susanna  Woodcraft Gdau   10   b. Tivetshall St Marys

No other Woodcrafts in Tivetshall St marys

I did find a James Skoulding age 30/38 unmarried working as a servant for Eliza Burgess who was a licensed Victualler and farmer of 360 acres living at the public house (?) Tivetshall St Marys

couldn't see any others.

If you ever want any more lookups just ask ok.

All the best Angela.

By the way I forgot to mention that the Susan Woodcraft living with Elizabeth Woodcraft in 1851 could be 5mts which is why she is only 10 on the 1861. For some reason the 1851 often don't include mts. whether who transcribed it didnt' think it important or what I don't know but it has happened time and time again. Just thought you might like to know.

Any way that should keep you busy for a while.

All the best Angela.
